How to set up IPTV on Android TV, Google TV and Android phones
By the IPTV Gold support team 8 min read
To set up IPTV on Android TV, Google TV or an Android phone, install an IPTV player from Google Play, choose “Login with Xtream Codes” and enter the server URL, username and password from your IPTV Gold dashboard. Channels, movies, series and the TV guide then load automatically.
What you need
- An Android TV, Google TV, Android box, phone or tablet with internet
- Your login details from your IPTV Gold dashboard
- For 4K: a 4K-capable device and a 4K TV
Login used on this device: Xtream Codes login (server URL, username, password)
Step by step
Open Google Play
On Android TV and Google TV open Google Play from the Apps row. On a phone or tablet open the Play Store app.
Install an IPTV player
Search for the player recommended in your dashboard and install the official version: it updates itself and is the safest choice.
Choose the Xtream Codes login
Open the player and pick “Login with Xtream Codes API” (wording varies). Prefer it to the M3U option: Xtream loads the TV guide and categories automatically.
Enter your details exactly
Type the server URL including http:// or https:// and any port number (for example :8080), then your username and password. They are case-sensitive.
Let the first sync finish
The first sync downloads the channel list and TV guide and can take a minute or two. Then open Live TV and pick a channel.
Your login details, explained
- Xtream Codes login
- A server URL, a username and a password. Most player apps call this “Xtream Codes API” or “Login with Xtream”. It loads live TV, movies, series and the TV guide in one go.
- M3U playlist URL
- One long link that contains your channel list. Use it in players without Xtream Codes support, such as VLC.
- EPG URL
- The TV guide (XMLTV) link. Xtream players load it automatically; with an M3U playlist you may need to paste it separately.
- Portal URL
- Used only by MAG boxes. Save your box's MAC address in your dashboard and we link it to your plan.
Your login details are in your dashboard under Subscription. Keep them private: anyone with them can use your connection, and your plan covers one screen at a time.
What internet speed do I need?
We suggest at least these download speeds for each screen watching at the same time. Test the speed on the device itself.
| Picture quality | Suggested speed per screen |
|---|---|
| SD | 5 Mbps |
| HD / Full HD | 10 Mbps |
| 4K UHD | 25 Mbps |
Tips for a smoother picture
- On phones, copy and paste the details from your dashboard instead of typing them.
- Use Chromecast or Google Cast from a phone to send a stream to your TV.
- Clear the player's cache occasionally from Settings › Apps if menus become slow.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Try this |
|---|---|
| “Invalid login” or “authorisation failed” | Re-type the server URL with the http:// part and port, and check capital letters in the username and password. |
| Buffering on busy evenings | Restart the device, switch to Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and close other apps that download in the background. |
| Only some categories appear | Run “Reload playlist” or “Refresh” from the player's settings after the first sync completes. |
